About This Quote
The quote, “What’s the face of a coward? The back of his head as he runs from the battle” is a quote from the movie Braveheart. When the hero of the movie William Wallace sees that he has little chance to win against the English, he retreats to his fortress. Then, when the English come into his fortress and try to kill him, he jumps too far away and, as a result, is killed. This shows how much courage and dignity Wallace showed.
He was willing to sacrifice his life for what he believed in and for what was right. Another portion of the quote says, “The face of a coward is never seen; it is always covered with its sleeve or hand.” This means that as soon as someone runs from a battle, they are no longer brave or courageous. In addition, by running from a battle, they become cowardly.
